Merry Christmas!

Boy oh boy, Christmas morning came awfully early this year.  At 5:30 am Cami and Lila came running into our room, bursting with excitement.  5:30!  In the AM!  We tried to convince them to hop in our bed and just snuggle (aka, let us go back to sleep), but they were having none of that plan.  So we did what any parent would do...and we drug ourselves out of bed!

Miss Cami was thrilled to see that Santa brought her the Kissing Puppy...
and the Snuggle Pet blanket...
and the Wonder Lab she asked for!  #winning

Lila was so happy to see all of her amazing art supplies.  An easel, canvases, paint pens, acrylic paints, sponges, tons of paint brushes--she got it all!

Jackson was still asleep and I'm pretty sure that even Maverick wished he were as well.

I am positive that Jared wanted to go back to bed!!

By 6:00 or maybe 6:30, the girls couldn't wait any longer and woke up their big brother.

He was still half asleep, but was stoked to see a new soccer goal, X Box One and the 2019 Madden game!

After the kids had checked out all the gifts from Santa it was time to open them from each other.  We got them a couple of things they'd like...

but the clear winners were the chromebooks for Lila and Jackson!

I love these goofballs more than they know.

Catching this sight of my oldest two hugging, as they anxiously awaited for Gigi, Boom, Maddie and Lilly to arrive, was enough to restore my faith in humanity that morning!

We had a yummy breakfast and then it was time for more gifts.

Baby Lilly was just as big a fan of the box as she was the present!

Happy 1st Christmas, baby girl!

There were lots of smiles, lots of "thank yous" and so much wrapping paper!
Jackson was super excited about his new golf clubs from his grandparents.  Very cool.

Meme made it for a visit, making the day even more special.
We played a little more before this sweet sugar needed a nap.  She'd had such a big day!
She woke up a little later and changed into her beautiful Christmas day outfit.  Just adorable.
A few hours later, we were at Memaw and Poppi's house for our second Christmas celebration.
All the Hays boys were there, making Jackson not feel so outnumbered!

The kids were overjoyed when Aunt Lyndsie walked in with her famous cookie decorating kits.  They loved getting to do it last year and had been asking her since early November if she was going to bring them again!

We had no idea of this girl's talent--turns out she is really good at cookie decorating!
And oh my goodness, so beautiful!

Sweet Connor tried his best to scoot around the kitchen floor and found Pete the Cat.

We enjoyed an especially delicious dinner, featuring beef tenderloin.  Afterwards, we opened gifts and chatted with everyone, including Lyndsie's mom, step-dad and his son, Nate.

The Super Slime Studio got rave reviews from Cami...

and J played this silly game with Lila.

His new Cowboys jersey was a big hit--Go Vander Esch!

Connor liked his walking/talking monkey that we got him and did his best to crawl to it.

Jared and I are thankful we got to spend the day with each other...

and our growing family!

Christmas Day was a huge success.  Our hearts were full!

Christmas Eve

It's my very favorite night of the year.  We celebrated Christmas Eve by attending our church.

These five children put on some of their most beautiful clothes, I curled some hair, Jackson added some suave gel and presto...so adorable!

Love them so very much.

We said hello to my family and then headed into the service.

Miss Lilly didn't make it through the whole way...she had lots to chat about!

But the rest of the kids, including Cami, did so well.  We ended the service with Silent Night and then headed to dinner.

We decided to spice things up this year and took our three kids to Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steakhouse.  Lila and Jackson love steak, so it was a cool experience for them.  Cameron had some chicken salad from the salad bar and was full for the night.  Thank goodness kids under 6 were free!

We got home later that evening and the kids changed into their Christmas jammies.

Only 1 more night before Christmas!!!  They each got to open one present from us...

then we got out our reindeer food...

and sprinkled it all over the front yard.

We also made sure to set out some special cookies and milk for Santa.

The kids then scurried up to bed.  We listened as Pa Hays read Twas the Night Before Christmas, a book he recorded for the kids before he passed away.  Hearing his voice is always bittersweet, but I'm so thankful that we have that book, as well as two others from my Papaw.  They are such treasures to us and help keep their memories alive.

Jared and I tucked our kids into bed, encouraged them to get some good sleep, and said goodnight.  A big day was upon us!

Twas Two Nights Before Christmas...

and we were at the Squiers' house.

The children were behaving well, but none as quiet as a mouse.

Our kids look forward to this night every year...

and enjoy exchanging presents with our friends who are so dear.
After gifts comes the best part--decorating cookies...

that were made with love from the heart.

While the boys played games upstairs, this girl hung out with me...

and her sister gave lots of hugs to little Jazzy.

We ended the night with a basketball game between the young and the young-at-heart.
Surprisingly, it wasn't even close, with the dads winning from the very start!

Merry Christmas, Squiers Fam!
We're so thankful that we met way back when t-ball was the boys' jam!
