Our 15th anniversary was on July 26th. Since we'd already spent 9 days in Gulf Shores, I thought we would just go to dinner somewhere nice, but Jared had other plans. I'm so glad he didn't give up on our trip! We have wanted to visit Colorado during the summer for a very long time. Since it was hovering around 100 degrees at home, we decided a trip to the mountains was in order.
| We could not have been more pleased--Vail is gorgeous! |
While we waited for our room, we had lunch outside at the bottom of the mountain. Cheers to 15 years! |
| Jared had to take a work call from the room. No problem. I just hung out at the pool with this incredible view and read a book. |
| We got ready for dinner that night and hopped on the bus to Vail Village. |
| It's stunning as well, and resembles a village in Switzerland. So charming! |
The next morning, we hiked a little ways up the mountain...good grief, hiking in 10,000 ft. elevation is no joke.
| We had breakfast at The Little Diner, which really should just change it's name. The sign should say #1 Breakfast Place in the USA. It's that good! We hopped on the gondola after that and arrived at this mountain-top playground 10 minutes later. |
| We kept thinking, "our kids would love it here!" |
| The back bowls are breathtaking... |
| and we even got to hold a real moose antler. It's so heavy! |
| Shortly thereafter, it was time for our 3 hour ziplining tour! |
| I went first--yeehaw! |
| After the first zipline, our nerves settled a bit. This was so great. |
| We quickly decided that it was one of our very favorite excursions ever. |
| At some points, we were traveling at 50 mph! |
| We got to repel down as well, which was cool... |
| and then took a ski lift up to this overlook. So pretty! |
| Flying through the forest on a 73 degree day...it really doesn't get much better. |
| That evening, we had reservations at a restaurant on top of the mountain. We got all cleaned up and hopped on the gondola once more. |
| We arrived in time for sunset. Look at this! No filter. Just God's beauty... |
| and my hot date. He's so fly! |
| We chatted with a nice couple from Houston and had a delicious dinner. |
| The next day we were ready for some more entertainment. |
| We decided to start with tubing down the mountain. |
| We got our tubes, rode the conveyor belt up... |
| got in our tubes and flew down the mountain. It was so much fun! |
| After that, we were walking towards the rock climbing wall, when we spotted some friends from NC! Brian and Jared were college roommates! So cool that we all just happened to be there at the same time. |
| We had dinner at the base of Lionshead that evening and then strolled around Vail Village a little more. Sitting on this side of this creek, we really felt like we were inside a postcard. |
| The next morning we drove over to have lunch at Beaver Creek, which is only 15 minutes away from Vail. It was just as gorgeous... |
| with beautiful flowers everywhere we looked. |
Friends for 28 years... Married for 15 years... Three kids that we love like crazy... So many incredible adventures together... I'm so glad we chose each other!
Happy Anniversary, babe! I love you. I love us. |
