Neighborhood Fall Fest

Last night was our neighborhood's annual fall fest. We had a really busy day since we had already been to a birthday party, but I think it was worth it cause the kids had a great time. It was also a good warm up for Halloween since the kids got to dress up. When we walked up there was a fire truck and ambulance. Madison was in awe of the fire truck.

Barney was just concerned about getting in a few putts.

He loved this bounce house and spent nearly thirty minutes in it. Jared literally had to drag him out!

Then the kids moved on to playing some games. Here they are at the game sponsored by Boom's electrical company.

After some games, Jackson remembered that he wanted to do the cake walk. We all went over there and Maddie and Jackson began walking around. Boom decided to get in on the action too and joined the walk. Good thing--he won on the first time! Jackson was so excited about eating the cupcakes.

He even took a time-out from going down this huge slide to come eat one.

Of course, it's monkey see, monkey do, so Maddie wanted a turn on the slide, too.

Thank goodness one of the teen volunteers was there to help her so that we didn't have to climb all the way up there!

So fun!

Dallas Arboretum '09

We spent yesterday afternoon at the Dallas Arboretum with friends. It was a little chilly when we got there, but promptly warmed up and felt wonderful. Before I get to the new pics, though, here are a few from our trip there last year. Jackson looks so young to me!

Judah didn't get to go to the arboretum this year, but Teagan and Presley did. We missed you Judah and Levi!

One of my oldest and best friends, Amanda, is in town this weekend. She brought along her two kiddos and we got some cute pics of them together. Here are Jackson and Cason.

Fort Worth Zoo

This past Sunday we took our second annual trip to the Fort Worth Zoo. We brought along 4 grandparents, 1 cousin, 1 aunt and 1 great-grandpa and everyone had a really fun day.

After checking out the chimps and gorillas, Poppy, Jackson and Daddo decided to feed some of the fish.

Checking out the giraffe--Jackson doing his usual and trying to get into the forbidden area. If he said it once, he said it 30 times that day, "I want to get in!" Oh dear--it's amazing he didn't end up as bear food!

Thanks everyone for spending the day with us. I can't believe we stayed for 4 hours! The kids did so good and we can't wait to go back next year.

TX - OU game 2009

Last week one of my college roommates called and asked if Jared and I would like to go to the TX-OU game with her and her fiance. Of course, we jumped at the chance--Jared had never been and it's been 10 years since the last time I went! We got there at 9:15am and promptly bought a funnel cake (great breakfast!) and some hot chocolate for me.

Then we found our way to the famed Fletcher's Corny Dog stand and these three bought a corny dog and beer - 9:30am.

After some socializing, we decided that we should probably head on into the game. Good thing--check out the crowd of people trying to enter the Cotton Bowl!

I took this picture of Bevo for Jackson. He called it the "Bevo Game" instead of the TX-OU game:)

Before the game began--already had done "Texas! Fight!" about 10 times at this point. The energy of the crowd was awesome.

Fair Day!

Today we got to visit the State Fair. It could not have been a more perfect day for it. Beautiful weather, abundant sunshine and both grandmas came, too. Here we are right after we got there this morning.

The first ride that Jackson and Clare went on was the great big carousel. It was cool,

but Jackson had his sights set on bigger things. He had been talking about the ferris wheel for days and spotted it as we exited the highway. You can see how enamored he was with it--no chance of taking his eyes off of it.

So we got in line and took our turn on the ferris wheel--it was really cool. We even saw Dad's office and waved hi to him:)

Then it was off to the midway! First stop--motorcycles!

Then a little boat ride.

Followed by some race car driving

And some log riding, too.

After all that fun, we headed out in search of the ever-so-scrumptious Fletcher's Corny Dogs. They were everything I'd hoped for and more. Even sir pick-pick (aka Jackson) shared one with me. After lunch we caught the dog show (so cute and really nice to sit inside for 20 minutes) and then went to the petting zoo. There were a ton of really neat animals. Here are some of our faves. Jackson loved meeting Bevo's cousin. Go Horns!

and of course, he got to feed some goats.

He even got to get up close and personal with a camel

and check out an ostrich.

His favorite, though, was getting to pet the piglets.

We all had such a great time and cannot wait to go back again next year!
