We knew that Monday was going to be cold. How cold, though? We had no idea. We put on 3-4 layers and thought, "we can do this!" And for a little while all was good!
| We did a few short runs, then took the lift up to mid-mountain. |
| Then we made a mistake and took the Thunderhead lift up so that we could ski the top right side of the mountain. It began to get eerily empty! So beautiful, though. |
| By the time we got to the top of Tomahawk, it looked like we were inside a snow tornado. For real! We were freezing! The wind was blowing like crazy and all we wanted to do was get back to our condo. It took us at least 45 minutes to ski back down, but we made it. Whew! I was so proud of all the kids--not once did they quit on me. They all understood that the only way to get warm was to keep going. Lila said, "I felt like Dory and kept telling myself to just keep skiing!" |
We made it back and were SO relieved to finally be warm again. We checked out the weather and figured out that at the top of the mountain it was 0 degrees with 50 mph winds. Zero. Say what?! No wonder we were cold! |
| After lunch the sun came out, but I had learned my lesson. Jared took the kids back out and I went souvenir shopping with these gals. It began snowing really hard by the time we were done and we were so worried that our crew got stuck in another snow storm! Thank goodness they didn't and were all smiles when we got back to the condo. |
| That evening, Dr. Cami was in the house. She gave everyone check-ups, including her dolls, before we went to dinner. We were all given good reports. |
Hanging out at the condo was always entertaining. There were people to spy on (that was a powerful telescope!)... |
| sassy little girls to chat with... |
| and fabulous views to enjoy. |
| I could sit on this patio all day! |
| We had a fantastic Italian dinner at Mambo, complete with ice cream sandwiches for dessert, and then hit the hay. Snowmobiling was on the agenda for the next day! |
