Festivities on the 4th

Whew! We have had quite the time this year celebrating the 4th of July. We began with a swim party for Chase on Saturday. Jackson got to swim with Chase's older brother, Cason, and got to see Chase's cousin, Karlie, too. I mention this because Jackson was completely smitten with Karlie at the party. He's so shy (he is his father's son) so his moves were very reserved, but he did stand near her for a while just working up the courage to talk to her! No joke, it was one of the cutest things I've seen in a while. When it was time to leave he gave her a big hug and had a huge grin on his face the whole time...then he ran back again and gave her one more! He is now referring to Karlie as his girlfriend and told us that she was his favorite person now. Miss Karlie is such a doll, very sweet and has great manners. All good qualities that a mom would want his son to have in his girlfriend. There's only one small problem, though...she may be a little out of his league. Karlie, my friends, is a sophomore in high school and is 15 years old! That being said, we may have just found our first real babysitter!

After the swim party we came home and grilled some hot dogs with Memaw and Poppy. Jackson got to experience his first sparkler and they did some poppers in the driveway. I'm pretty sure Poppy enjoyed the fireworks the most!

Isn't this so All-American? Holding a sparkler while wearing his Texas Rangers shirt.

The next day we got ready to go over to my parents for another swim party. Jackson swiped this iced cookie at 10:30am and I actually let him have it. Party on!

We found this outfit in Lila's closet. It was originally Madison's, but she never got to wear it. Thanks, cousin:)

Two silly peas in a pod--wearing hats that Aunt Glenda brought for them.

The look that Aunt Glenda got when she told Madison to salute. Classic.

Everyone got into the spirit this year. It was so good to see my cousin, Leslie, too. The food was great and the decorations were amazing, as usual. Thanks, Aunt Glenda for making the 4th so special. After chowing down on some tasty BBQ, it was time to cool off in the water.

The slide was the main attraction for a while. Madison loved it...

and Jackson did, too. Although, he is a bit more cautious and doesn't like to slide down at high speeds, hence the feet on the slide and being completely stopped:)

The best part was when the adults got in on the fun. Yay Gigi and Boom!!

Even though there was a wild party going on outside, Lila decided it was time for a nap. There was a great breeze and this girl knew how to enjoy it to the max.

Sporting her Future Miss America onesie as she patiently waited for the fireworks show to begin.

We love the 4th! What a fun holiday!
