Sports Mania!

We really outdid ourselves this past weekend.  Jackson had a baseball tournament (in Plano, thank goodness!) and Lila had two soccer games.  It was CRAZY!  I'm pretty sure we don't need to be that busy again for a very long time.  My 35 year-old self just doesn't have it in me to hang that long!
We kicked things off bright and early for an 8am game at Frito Lay Ballpark.  Jackson and his team did well and won 5-3.  Go Fury!

Cami's favorite part of the game, by far, was playing with this little "dah dah."  She got to pick her up, and Ms. Tina even let her hold the leash for a while, too.  She only ran off with the dog once!

The Fury played again at 11:30 and came up a little short that time, losing 10-8.  It was a bummer of a game, but J played some mean short-stop, so he was at least happy about that:)

Hang in there, boys!  We'll get 'em tomorrow!

Jackson, Cami and I hustled over to watch the Bees play and got there around half-time.  They were winning and Lila was playing her little heart out.  The Bees held on to their lead and won 1-0!  After that, I ran Lila to Brooklynn's birthday party while Jared took Jackson to meet a friend at the movies.

It was a painting party--such a cool idea!  Here's Lila's masterpiece.  Jackson loved Hotel Transylvania 2 and then went to play at Cole's house while we went to Madison's second game of the day.

This Cheetah girl did awesome!  She scored 2 goals and helped her team win 5 - 2!

Oh yeah, and in between all that, the biggest miracle of the day happened.  My Texas Longhorns BEAT the Oklahoma Sooners 24-17!

We all fell into bed that night, super-tired, but ready to play ball again the next day.  I woke up at 11pm and checked the bracket.  We had the 8am game, again.  Are you kidding me?!

The boys left the house while it was still dark on Sunday morning and the girls and I made it just in time for the first pitch.  On the mound, Jackson Hays!

It was such a great game.  So intense.  Jackson pitched the first three innings and we were up 7-6.  He was bringing the heat!  He had already thrown 74 pitches, though, so his coach was debating whether or not to pull him.  His best inning was the third and he knew J still had some good stuff left, so he asked Jared if he could put him in to face the first batter of the 4th. Jared agreed, but Coach didn't get the message to the team before they took the field.  Brock thought he was pitching, so he ran over to the mound and picked up the ball.  Coach hollered at him that J was still pitching, and when the other team's coach heard that, he started saying that since Brock was the first one to touch the ball, he had to pitch.  Say what?!  That coach had no idea that Brock is one of our best pitchers.  He struck out the first two batters and got the next one to ground out. Ha!
The Fury won 7-6!

We left the ballfield at 10am and had just enough time to squeeze in church.
Gotta feed our souls, too!  It was close, but we made it on time.

After church, we were at the soccer fields again for Lila's second game of the day.
The girls didn't have their best day, despite having the cutest Assistant Big Brother Coaches!

Jackson, Cameron and I had to leave early to make it to his next ballgame.  The little Bumblebees fell to the Ice Queens, but Lila tried her best.  I was so proud of her.

Madison and Aunt Colleen met us at the game and the girls watched the team warm-up.

Get your game faces on, boys!

Like I said, Lila had tried so hard.  She just wore herself out!  She napped in the stroller for a half hour and woke up feeling much better, just in time for the game to begin.

Batting second for the Fury - #7 Jackson Hays!

Go Bubba!  He got the first hit of the game!

Way to go, kiddo.

Five from Coach Kevin before he stole second base.

He played third base the whole game and tried his best to tag this kid out.  The throw just wasn't in time.  He loves it when they do get them, though.

The best part about the game for Cami was sharing nachos with Aunt Colleen!

Who likes some nachos?  This girl!

J's team lost that semi-final game and our nutty weekend finally came to a close.  I'm not sure we could have stuck it out for the championship game!  That night at dinner during the High/Low game, Jared and I both said that our highs for the weekend were watching our kids do what they love and trying their best at it.  And it's so true.  I just needed a nap or two thrown in there!

Grandparent's Day at Hunt

Lila Lou had a bit of a rough week, but rallied just in the nick of time to make it to school for Grandparent's Day.

She was so happy to have her Gigi and Memaw join her for lunch and the book fair.
They loved seeing her too.  She even got to show them around her room for a bit and they said her teacher simply adores her.

After making a trip to Raising Cane's to pick up lunch for this kid, the grandmas were back at school for round 2.  They said that a couple teachers went out of their way to tell them what a great kid Jackson is.  Yay!  Made his mama pretty darn proud to hear that.

Gigi said that they just loved chatting with him and that it was the most he's ever talked to them!  He was a little chatterbox and had so much to share.  They enjoyed every minute of it.

Meanwhile at home, this girly woke up and the first words out of her mouth were "eat hun bun?"  I hadn't had any in our house all week, so I finally took pity on her and ran to the store.  She was so appreciative!  The girl loves her honey buns for sure.  Who doesn't??

On Friday we were pumped up about something other than honey buns--the Texas Rangers were playing the Toronto Blue Jays in the playoffs.  I found J's old Josh Hamilton shirt and it fit Cami so well!

Isn't she just about the cutest Ranger's fan you ever did see?  We watched the whole game that day--all 5 hours and 12 minutes!  Well, she took a nap, but I watched it all.
So happy to see them get the win!  Go Rangers!

Saving Grace

After being up all night long with a very sick little girl, it's amazing how much better I feel with a new haircut and eyebrow waxing.  Every now and then a mama has got to tend to herself!  And instead of being cranky today, all I have felt is thankful.
The wheels were truly falling off at midnight last night when Lila came down to our room covered in puke.  We had just turned off the TV and closed our eyes.  No time for sleep, though.  I put her in the shower and went upstairs to survey the damage.  It was bad.  Dirty and bad.  We'd eaten spaghetti for dinner.  Yikes.  I grabbed the comforter and sheets and took them downstairs to the laundry room.  Then I began scrubbing.  About halfway through my task, I heard the all-to-familiar cries of Cameron.  "Mama! Mama! Mama!" I couldn't help her right then, so it was Daddy to the rescue.  Thank goodness.  By the time I got the sheets into the washer I could hear another dreaded sound coming from my room.  Lila was sick again.  I started running and was so thankful that her daddy had made it back downstairs and was holding the bowl for her.  After that we went back to her room where we tried to sleep.  No such luck though--poor girl got sick every hour until she finally gave out around 5am.  Daddy was on duty and had taken care of Cami the other two times she woke up during the night.  Lila and I woke up around 7:45 and came downstairs.  After making myself coffee and eating a little, I just wasn't feeling it, so I crawled back into bed with Lila.  I fell asleep for a bit and woke up at 9:15.  Cameron was STILL sleeping and had given me a reprieve!  That might have been the biggest miracle of all!  Thank you, Jesus.  I drank my coffee that I had made a few hours before, jumped in the shower and called my mom.  She came over and stayed with the girls while I went to my appointment.  Another blessing.  Thank goodness for moms!

So far Lila hasn't gotten sick anymore and we are hoping and praying that the worst is over.
We're also really hoping that no one else gets it!

I'm still going strong thanks to my cat nap and a Red Bull.  Only 5 more hours until bed time.
I do believe I may put myself in bed at 9:00 tonight.  Sleep is a precious thing.

What's up?

This last week I worked in Big Centers again and just had the sweetest little group come see me!
Aren't they just precious?  I love Kindergarten!

Our outdoor covered patio is finally showing signs of being completed.  Now we just need a mantle and TV and we will be set!  All of us are looking forward to fall nights with a good fire and some football on the big screen.  We might even make a s'more or two.

The Bumblebees played on Saturday and called in Uncle Andrew as a guest coach.  They did awesome, too, and won 10 - 1!  Lila got another goal and was smiling so big.  You go, girl!

Cameron's big smiles came out the other day when she got to take her first ride on this mini-four wheeler.  It goes all of .2 miles per hour, and she loves every second of it.

Maybe the biggest smiles of the weekend came from these three, though, when they got to go night swimming in the hot tub.  Saturday night at home.  It was perfect.  I even heated up the hot tub and Daddy made a fire outside, too!

Just a snapshot of how the Cowboys are doing this season.  This was game #2 on Sunday.
They really came alive and played so much better than their first game.

Their third game was last night and J man had so many peeps come to watch, including one of his biggest fans.

"Do your best, Bubba.  I'll be cheering when you score some touchdowns."

"Goooooo Cowboys!"

They may fight sometimes, but they really do love each other.
These two girls are definitely proud of their big brother.

Daddy couldn't make it, but the rest of the fam showed up to support #12.  He put on a great show for everyone, too!  I lost count, but he threw at least 4 TD's, one 3 point conversion, got 2 interceptions on defense and ran one back for a TD.  They called the touchdown back, saying that he jumped during the return, but it was a darn good play.  And who knew that there was a "no jumping" rule?  Not me.  He was all over the place, though!  The Cowboys won 41-0.
Total domination of the whole field.  Way to go, kids!

Silly Willies

Parenting isn't that hard.  Just let your kids go skinny dipping and they will be all smiles.

The older two were thrilled to be in the hot tub after dinner, on a school night, none the less!

The youngest was thrilled beyond words that she got to hop in naked!
We were thrilled that she didn't go potty in it.

Making alligators at school with mom and friends is also a big hit.  Today, Lila waved her wand and said, "I wish my mama could work in Kindergarten every day."  Ha!  Every day might be a bit much, but I do love going every week.

Hanging out with these two Varsity Cheerleaders was a highlight for Lila and Madison.
Getting to do a stunt was even better!  Go Plano East!

When I ran into the grocery store the other day I just needed three things.  Dog food, salad and a Cranergy drink.  They were all out of Cranergy, so I went to grab a Coke Zero at the checkout.  This one was the first one I saw--I felt silly, but it made me smile:)

Cameron and I started a Kindermusik class last week.  She loves it!  We are super goofy, dancing, marching, singing songs, rolling on the floor, and playing with toys.

The really big smiles come out when it's scarf time, though.  Where's Cami?!

This girl is such a little maniac these days, especially in public.  She does love her brother, though, and cheered, "touchdown Bubba!" at his game last night.

He's got a devoted fan club for sure.  All that's missing is my big bow.  Don't hold your breath!
(In all fairness, Cami isn't usually sporting such a gigantic bow--she broke her white one and had to borrow Lila's.  Couldn't go without one.  That would really be silly.)

These three goofballs not only rock it on the baseball field, but they dominate at football, too.
Cowboys won big last night! 34 - 0.

Denton 10U Tourney

Every other weekend you can find us and all the other Fury folks at the baseball fields.  This time we were in Denton and the boys were playing up against 10U AA teams.  But first, we had to squeeze in a few more things.  Saturday morning, Lila and Coach Dad had team pictures for the Bumblebees soccer team.

Love them in their black and gold!

Then he ran her over to Plano East HS for Cheerleading Camp with Madison.  While the girls enjoyed learning new cheers and using their black and gold pom poms, the rest of us headed north for some baseball.

Since we were down to only two kids, I found myself with some free time!

I snapped a few mom/son pics like this one of Brock and Angie...

and Tammy and Cooper.

I also got Corbin's family right before the game began.  Go Fury!

Jackson had a good game and got on base twice.  Here he is on 3rd base getting ready to score.

I was too busy cheering to get him crossing home plate, but he made it there safely!

When Corbin was on 3rd base, I just had a feeling he was about to steal home.  And he did!
He hustled and then dove head first.  SAFE!!

Jackson played short stop the whole game and made some good plays.
I love his intensity...even during warm-ups:)

The boys ended the first day with one win and one loss, which put them as the #4 seed on Sunday.

We got to the fields at 9am and were ready for another championship day.  The sun was out, and the boys looked ready to go.

Gigi and Boom surprised us by coming to the game, too, which made Lila Lou very happy indeed.

Everyone was excited to cheer on the starting pitcher--#7 Jackson Hays!

He started out well...

and I know he tried his best.

In the end, it was just an off-day for him and his whole team.  Some days you got it, some days you don't.  As Ron Washington would say, "that's just the way baseball go!"
