Buzzing Bumblebees

This was Lila's 5th season of soccer, and it was without a doubt her breakout season.  She just came into her element this spring and started combining her natural athletic ability with some good ball skills.  Oh yeah, and she loves it, too!  We had the team professionally photographed a week ago by Focused on Fun, and Matt was able to get some fantastic action shots.

Lila, Lauren and Malee are all in the same class at school.  They love each other.

Almost game time--let's go Bumblebees!  

They combined the Kindergarten and 1st grade leagues this year, so most of the time our girls were playing older ones.  This team was a kindergarten one, though, which meant our girls were ready to dominate!  Madison started things off nicely...

and Harper and Lauren stepped in to help, too.

Harper just turned 5 and isn't even in Kindergarten yet.
She has played SO well this season, though!

Grace has really improved, too, and listens well to Coach Jared.

My favorite, though, is still this little blondie.

By halftime, we were up 4-0.  Go Bees!

As the second half began, Malee and Brooklyn were ready.  Eyes on the prize.

I love how focused Brooklyn always is.

She is our top goal-scorer and was getting fouled a lot by this girl.  She finally started throwing her elbow back to keep this girl away from her!

Maddie is also a super-star, and was getting fouled some, too.  This same girl grabbed on for dear life to her shirt.  Good grief!

Cheerleader Cami had to walk the sidelines to see what all the fuss was about.  One day she will be in the game, and I cannot wait.

In the third quarter, Lila started to turn on the speed.

She raced to the ball down the field...

dribbled it well...

passed to Brooke, and we scored!

Goal kick for the other team maybe?  I'm guessing that's why Lila has her hands crossed over her body.  Gotta think that some of her daddy's love for English soccer-watching is rubbing off on her.

Little Addison had a good game, too.  It's her first season and she's still in Pre-K, too.  Get it, girl!

My girl is fast!  She will often be at one end of the field, but see the other team has taken the ball.  It's almost like a cartoon.  She turns on her turbo engines and somehow gets to the ball before they can get a clean shot on the goal.

Good job, speed demon!

This little team didn't go down without a fight--more fouls on Brooke.  Sheesh!

At the end of the third quarter, I had to take Cami to the restroom.  And I missed Lila's goal!!!  Looks like her friends were there to celebrate with her, but I would have loved to see it.

When we got back, she was playing goalie.
She made a couple saves and ensured the Bees won 7-0.

Her smile just lights up my heart.

Way to go, Lila Lou!  We are so proud of you.

The Bees had an awesome season and closed it out with a win over the #1 team this past weekend!  They ALL played hard, and it was by far their best collective team effort.  So fun to see.

Lila played through an arm injury and without any water, either.  She's one tough cookie. Her coach and assistant coach were both very impressed with her game and so happy that we won.

Memaw was, too!

The Bees finished the season 6-2, which put them in second place.  That's so awesome!
