It's Summer!

Wow!  Summer has sure started off with a bang.  It is hot, hot, hot most days, with the sun in full force.  We have been cheering for #7 and his Fury teammates as they wrap up this season.

Jackson had an excellent second season pitching.  He didn't have any runs score on him the entire season until the last game that he pitched.  And that was against the #1 team in the league, made up of some really big, talented 4th grade boys.  He rocked the mound this season!

He batted second for his team, had some really great at-bats, and struggled at other times.  It's been a bit of a struggle to transition from coach-pitch to kid-pitch, but I think he and his team will only get better with time.  Despite being hard to watch your kid strike out, I really do believe that it builds character and mental toughness.  Baseball really is about so much more than just getting three outs or hitting a home run, although both of those are awesome when they happen!

Jackson's coaches are men he can look up to, and they lead by example on how to be a good sport, but still try your best to win.  I know a certain little girl who thinks her Bubba hung the moon!

When we haven't been at baseball, soccer or football practice, it's been so nice to go jump in a cool swimming pool.  Before we could do that the other night, though, Lila had to get in some good quality time with one of the new baby kittens in Memaw's backyard. She loves them!

Cami thought they were really cute, too, and kept meowing at them all evening.

Then it was time to cool off!

We've also been swimming at Gigi's house a time or two.  Is this kid 5 or 15?
Oh my word.
Stop growing up, child!

Thank goodness this child is a fan of water.  She would much rather climb in and out of the pool right now, as opposed to sit in a float, but I'm not giving up hope yet!  We will start daily training once our pool is done.
And speaking of training, all three kids did the dishes for me yesterday.  The girls washed as brother loaded.  Gotta love some good child labor.  I also gave Jackson a laundry lesson, and then the kids made their own list of chores to complete every day this summer.  So far they are on board with pitching in more around the house--we will see how long that lasts!

Yesterday afternoon J's team was awarded 3rd place in the 10U Kid Pitch division for Sachse Baseball.  They were the only all 8 year-old team and they did better than any of the coaches or parents ever expected. Way to go, Fury!

This kid is racking up the trophies.  We really do love watching him play a game that he's such a natural at.  He has worked hard to be good at it, and it shows.  Way to go #7!
