Tournament Time!

It's that time again!  The Cubs post season is finally here.  They played their first game on Saturday and beat the Red Sox 14 - 10.  It was a much closer game than we imagined it would be, but we were still glad to leave with a win.  This tournament is do or die--one loss and you're out, so it's Go Big or Go Home!
It was the perfect game to have professionally photographed and I'm so happy with the awesome shots that Matt Gomez got of the whole team.  Focused On Fun Photography is amazing!

My favorite #32 was ready to play ball! They got warmed up...

and were all smiles before the game began.

Coach Jared was our first base coach and had the boys ready to rock.

They watched the other team warm up in the infield...

and then got their last minute pep talk from Coach Carlos.

Gooooooo Cubs!!

Jackson played first the whole game and made some great catches.  Stretch!

That's one out!

Matthew made some good plays at short stop and threw the ball to J...

That's two out!

Caden made some good plays at second base, too...

and threw the ball over to J for out #3.

I could watch this kid play all day long.  Fielding...

and throwing.  It's so cool to see your child's hard work really pay off.

There were plenty of exciting plays, like this one where Tyler tagged the runner out at third base.

The whole team hit really well, too!

Jackson got a few doubles

Run fast #32!!

Get there!

Rounding to second base

Way to go, J man!

He scored a few times

and got lots of outs at first base.  Cool pic of Zach throwing the ball to J.

Tyler made some great plays at third base and tried his best to get the ball to J in time.

One throw was a little high, but Jackson used his hops to jump up and get it.  They didn't get the runner out that time, but at least they held him to a single.
Pretty soon there were two down and only one more out to go.

Jackson's last time up to bat was serious business.  It was the 5th inning and the Cubs were only up by a run or two.  They needed to score a few more to ensure a win.

He waited on a good ball from Coach Jeff...

kept his eye on the ball and made a great shot to center field!

If only he'd been paying attention to his base coach, he would have had a triple...but he got thrown out at third base instead!  Ahhhh!!!  That's why you're not supposed to watch the ball yourself!

Coach Jared was not impressed.  The boys scored a few more runs, though....

made some more good plays...

and even got a triple play that started with a huge catch in right field and ended up throwing out two base runners!!!

The Cubs pulled out the win and all 12 boys played a big part in making that happen.

The kids are ready for the next game tomorrow night.

You can betcha that I'll be hollering like crazy for them from the stands, and so will these two cuties.  I love this time of year.  There is nowhere else I'd rather be.
