20 months and 6 months

Miss Madison turned 6 months old yesterday. She is such a doll. She's almost crawling and is so happy all the time.

Dad went out and bought a little cake, hats and party thing-a-ma-jigs.

Jackson had a little bit of a birthday too, yesterday. He is now officially 20 months old. In true Jackson fashion, he refused to wear the hat. Oh well, he did eat the cake and told me it was yummy:)

Dallas Arboretum

This past Monday, Jackson, Curious George and I took a trip out to the Dallas Arboretum. It was so cool! Lots of great pumpkins and so many beautiful flowers. We're going back next week for Tot Tuesdays...so stay tuned for Arboretum part 2.

Here's Jackson being a monkey for the camera.

Something was really funny...probably the fact that he refused to look at the camera for more than .3 seconds! Oh well, it's still a cute picture.

Whirlwind trip to Lubbock!

We went back to Lubbock this past weekend and had a great time in our ol' stompin' grounds. We literally hit the ground running from the moment we got off the airplane.

Dinner at Stella's with our friend Teresa and her little girl, Abby. When we left Lubbock, Abby was about 3 weeks old. Wow! Now she's 2 1/2 and we have Jackson!

The Texas Tech vs Nebraska game was on Saturday. So was TX/OU, though, so here we are watching the game with our friends Danny and Kelly. Go Horns!

Even though I brought a bag full of toys, my mother was right. All Jackson needed was Kelly's vacuum cleaner. He was thoroughly entertained:)

After seeing the first quarter of the TX/OU game, we made our way out to Raidergate, where Scott's fraternity had a tent. It really was a neat set-up...the school had a big stage in the parking lot where a band was playing.

Kelly mentioned feeling a little too old to be at the tailgate and I agreed...we definitely were the ONLY ones rolling up with a baby stroller!!

Jackson and I got to sit up in the suite with Stephanie and Mike. Jackson had a ball just running all around. He even sat and kind of watched the game for a few minutes.

After half-time we got to move down to these seats in the box. This is our best attempt to get him to smile for the camera.

About two minutes after we left the game--completely worn out. His mama was, too:)

Dinner after the game at Carino's. For some reason the food is just better at this Carino's--maybe the Rockwall staff should travel to Lubbock for some tips.

Touring the new part of Dad's law school.

Visiting Uncle Scott at his new house

Visiting friends before we left town on Sunday. Miss Madelynne was only 5 when we left--look at her now...all grown up and sitting so properly.

Stud Muffin

These are pictures of Jackson before church the other day. He now wears his cowboy boots almost every Sunday and gets so many compliments on them! "Aunt Stephanie's" mom bought them for him when he was born. Ever since, we have been counting down the months until he got big enough to wear them. The time has finally come...

and we love it! He looks so grown up in this picture:)

Rearranging the pumpkins on our porch
Aren't the boots so cool?

Tagged

I've been tagged by my friend, Carole, so y'all now get to learn a little bit more about me:) Here goes...

First, post a picture of you and your child. Surprisingly so, we don't have very many pics of just us...this needs to change! Here's one of Jackson sporting his bandana.

1. How many kids do you have?

Pretty sure you all know that I've got my hands full with one crazy little guy.

2. Age of child?

He is 19 1/2 months old

3. What time do you start your day?

Usually around 7:30 or a little before.

4. What do you eat for breakfast?

Either cereal (honey nut cheerios, raisin bran, frosted flakes, or my fav, cinnamon toast crunch) or maple and brown sugar oatmeal, with a piece of toast.

5. Do your kids watch T.V.?

This is an emphatic, NO! Jackson will not have anything to do with T.V. shows or DVDs. Maybe some day he will slow down enough to enjoy some good cartoons:)

6. What are his favorite activities?

Right now Jackson loves going to Little Gym every week. He especially enjoys playing with the balls and hanging on the bars like a little monkey. He also loves to go on walks--really likes to take the dogs, although he's a little unsure now about holding the leash himself. He loves his two new toys, the slide and car gadget I just got him. He also really likes to go to the park and run all around.

7. Do you get a break during the day for some you time?

Yes, thank goodness! Jackson is an excellent napper, so I get about 3 hours in the afternoons to do whatever I please. I usually get caught up with my emails, read some blogs, do a blog post of my own, return calls since it is nearly impossible to talk on the phone with J around, then do pilates while I watch General Hospital on the DVR. If I've still got some extra time I will read something...People Magazine is a fave and I am currently readying The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch, which is excellent.

8. How do you end your day?

If it's my turn to put Jackson to bed, then I usually fall asleep in his room while "pretending" to be asleep. I'll tell him, mommy is tired, Jackson is tired, why don't you lay your head down like this. Then I lay down in his chair and close my eyes. It works really well because he goes right to sleep...only problem is that a lot of times, I do too! If Jared puts him to bed, then I get to watch a show--maybe ER or Dancing with the Stars.

9. What is your best parenting advice or tip?

Keep a good sense of humor whenever possible. Even when they are being little stinkers, they are still so precious and I know that this time is fleeting, so I'm trying to really embrace every day.

10. I'm tagging 5 people...

Jennifer Z., Lindsey L., Katie H., Sarah H., Hayley E.

Adventures of Curious George

Jackson has a new best friend. I must say, I wholeheartedly approve. Curious George is a great little guy and is always willing to go off on any kind of fun adventure.

Going down the slide with Jackson...what a brave little monkey

Supervising Jackson as he plays with his new cars

Riding around town looking for some fun. Today he went to Grandma's house and to eat at Two Rows for dinner.
He was very well behaved at both.

Strolling in the 'hood. Gotta wear those shades:)

All in all, I'd say Jackson's found the perfect friend.

Owl Football

We took Jackson to his first Garland Owl football game a few weeks ago. He did so good, that we decided to take him again last week to see the Owls play South Garland. We all had so much fun. The Owls won in the last 60 seconds and we actually got to stay for the whole game...amazing!

Jackson was ready for half-time to be over with at this point. He doesn't really have a whole lot of love for the Mighty Owl Band or the Dashing Debs.

Both of Jackson's grandfathers were at the game, too. Now, if we could just get my dad and J to look at the camera for more than 2 seconds. My dad always says that he has ADD...there could not be any truer words spoken.

Jackson loved getting to have a drink of Boom Paw's coke.

Delicious. He also got to share Boom Paw's popcorn. After some good snacks like that, a boy's ready for some more football.
