School may be out for summer, but it was in session over at the Hays household this morning. Mr. Hays, aka Jackson, decided to try and teach his baby sister a few very important things. First on the agenda, sitting up.
This girl got an A plus!
Second, learning to hold things...
He was a very patient teacher and gave her lots of options.
Next up, time for a little P.E. Great job Lila on strength of neck during tummy time!
After all that physical activity it was time for some academia. She was a little less than thrilled about reading class. Oh well, a girl's gotta have something to work towards.
Mr. Hays had a hug for his very sweet pupil. Wonder what he has in store for her tomorrow?
Life has been one big party after another these days. We have had so many birthdays, baby showers and events these past two weeks...it really is a little bit crazy! We're also in the process of putting our house on the market, so that's added just a teeny bit more stress. This last weekend we attended two family parties on Saturday and then celebrated Father's Day on Sunday. We decided to do a swim party at my parents house and it really could not have gone any better.
We got to celebrate with three generations of fathers. My mom got to spend time with her dad...
I got to hang out with my dad...
and the kids got to be with their daddy, too!
These two munchkins were SO excited about swimming. In fact, about two seconds after we got there, Jackson jumped in the spa (with all his clothes on!) to retreive an inner tube. I think he really did forget that he wasn't wearing a swim suit yet!
My kids really do have an amazing daddo.
Gotta love the "cheese" faces!
I wish I got a few pics of the kids coming down the slide. They must have done it 53 times.
Happy Father's Day! Thanks everyone for celebrating with us.
I took Lila for her two month check-up yesterday. She got a glowing report and I was quite the proud mama. She was in a great mood, just cooing and smiling the whole time Dr. Betty was examining her. Lila is right on target or above in all of the 2 month milestones. She makes terrific eye contact and can track really well. She can grasp objects hanging above her, too, which apparantly is a 4 month task. Whoo hoo! Harvard, here we come!
Not only is she super-advanced for her age, but she's also been growing like a weed! We had been noticing how long she appeared to be...she's been wearing 3-6 month sleepers for the past two weeks or so. Then there have been a few random people tell me how big my baby is for only two months. (Not sure what to say back to these folks, so I just smile and nod.)
Apparantly the sleepers and the random peeps don't lie. Here are baby girl's stats:
Weight: 12 lbs (75%)
Height: 24 1/2 inches (off the chart--seriously, it was above 99%!)
Head circumference: 16 inches (75%)
If she'd of been a boy, we would have totally expected her to be really tall. Since Jackson has always been at 95% or above, that would not have been a surprise at all. Apparantly we are now raising two giants, though! Jared just hopes she plays volleyball--he thinks it will be much more bearable to watch instead of dance competitions. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
The Martinez Crew came over to our house for a playdate this week. We had such a great time hanging out with them and all of the kids were so well behaved. I was amazed at how calm it was!
This is the best group shot that I could get. Levi is such a cutie, but he did not want his picture taken! Miss Lila was so good for 90% of the day, but she was upset here....hence Jackson trying to figure out what was wrong with her.
The "big kids" played with lots of toys and then sat down for some lunch.
After the little ones all had their lunch, we did a little photo op. Monica was singing them a song in spanish. All three (Blaise, Lila and Simeon) were just mesmerized by it!
I cannot get over how long Lila is right now! We go for her 2 month check-up tomorrow, so I'll have some official stats then, but for now we think she's pretty tall. She was the same length as Simeon and he is 4 months old!
Big brother came out of the playroom and caught us doing the photo shoot. He skeedattled down the stairs and got right in on the action!
My sweet girl had so much fun with all of the boys.
This past weekend, my sweet in-laws hosted a "Come over and meet Miss Lila" party. It was really nice and we had a great time introducing her to lots of wonderful people. This was my attempt at a family photo.
If you had any idea what Jackson was acting like (wild indian) you would be super impressed that we even caught him and got him to look in the direction of the camera.
My good friend Megan gave her these adorable slippers. I am in love with them!
Jackson and Jared's favorite part of the party was definitely the petit fours! The little guy literally devoured his!
I thought Shelley did such a great job with these. They are really too cute.
Guests had lots of Lila pics to look at and were asked to sign this wall hanging that's for her nursery.
Lila was so good during the whole party. She was held by so many people and was such a little sweetheart about the whole thing.
Madison was busy being a rascal with Jackson most of the time, but she did take a few seconds to kiss her baby cousin.
This was also a special day because Lila finally got to meet her other great grandpa.
Jackson and Maddie weren't really into socializing and carrying on with small talk...they much prefered riding around the house in this car. It's only a one seater, but J was determined to ride in it at the same time as her.
Lila was asleep during the first half of the party and sure did enjoy being rocked by Meme.
Gigi did her best to entertaining the two rugrats.
After a long day, Miss Lila was all worn out. She was still a happy camper, though:)
Thank you, thank you, thank you Memaw and Poppy for such a special day.
